April 27th - Touch and Beers for Coach Heatley

Posted on Tuesday 18 April 2006

Basically, as you know, Glyn is getting married and Thursday Arpil 27th at 7:00 PM will be a good chance to get everyone together play some touch and then all meet at the Blarney Stone afterwards for a few beers…

From Ben’s email…

As many of you are aware, former self proclaimed DRFC playing legend & current assistant coach Glyn Heatley, gets married this upcoming May to a young Irish beauty (Trish Egan), in Ireland. Given the current plight of English rugby, the marriage is being regarded as a great strategic alignment by English rugby supporters. Irish supporters are less enthusiastic, but have accepted love tends to be blind, irrespective of the likely dilution of their rugby DNA talent.

Cheers

Lane Westbrook in Hospital - Update

Posted on Sunday 16 April 2006

Old Boy and still very active Dallas RFC member Lane Westbrook went under the knife. You might not know Lane but if you have had one of the bratwursts at the field this year; well, that was a deal Lane put together for the club. Lane had quadruple by-pass surgery Friday and is in recovery in Tyler Texas.

Please pray for a steady and a full recovery for Lane.

As soon as we have more information, it will be updated here.

Update:

Lane is doing fine and recovering well. He did not have a heart attack as previously reported. He did have the quadruple by-pass surgery which he attributes to a poor diet in his early years. He has been increasing the intensity of his workouts which might have caused the need for surgery. A new diet and new outlook on life should get things under control. Lane wanted to say thanks to Canada Bob and Gen-o for stopping by on Sunday in Tyler.

3. Roommate Wanted

Fil needs a room-mate. Professional opportunities are luring Parks away from Dallas and leaving the downstairs bedroom at 2102 N. Haskell Ave. vacant. $750 per month gets you a garage space, washer/ dryer, fully furnished bedroom with your own bathroom (two floors removed from the other bedroom) in a pretty sweet townhouse near city place. Looking for someone who doesn’t mind entertaining on weekends (not every weekend but I tend to throw a decent sized party every few months), isn’t a slob and doesn’t want to move his girlfriend in 5 nights a week. Email filip.keuppens@warnerbros.com if you or someone you know is interested.
