2. Dallas RFC defeats University of Dallas, 37 to 7
On Saturday, December 1, the Club visited the campus of the University of
Dallas (Irving, TX). A scrappy match ensued, as U.D. came out with a great
deal of confidence, having just beaten the Texas A&M “white” team.
Their aggressiveness was rewarded, as U.D. blocked a clearing kick by F/B
Jay Alston in the first minute of play, and were unlucky to not have a “try”
awarded, as the referee could not see the ball, under all the bodies.
Five minutes later, Jay Alston started the scoring, with a penalty kick from 22 meters into a strong wind, to put the Club up 3 to 0. The DRFC forwards, had a great game as they controlled the loose ball, and the two Dallas RFC wingers, young Austin Nix, and Derrick Thomas both scored in the first half. Filip Keuppens, converted Derrick’s try, and the first half ended 13 to 7.
In the second half, the Club had the strong wind to its back and kept the ball in the
U of D half.” Man of the match”, Chris Herzog, scored two tries, with-in the first 15 minutes, with Filip Keuppens converting the 2nd try. Chad Lawrence, scored a try
under the post at 23 minutes, that Jay Alston converted. Chris Herzog had an opportunity to score a “trey”, but un loaded to Greg Heiler, with 2 minutes left
in the match. John Pierce, converted a very tricky kick from the corner.

3. Austin Nix has been invited to attend the U-19 Eagles camp as a result of his performance on Saturday. One of the Eagle U-19 coaches was on hand and was impressed with the young speedster’s performance. We will be holding a fund raiser in order to help Austin raise the $800 or so he will need to attend.
