June 12, 2020 – DALLAS, TX
The Dallas Rugby Football Club is proud to welcome the newest member of Major League Rugby (MLR) to town, the Dallas Jackals!
Ownership of the Dallas Jackals is led by an investment group including Neil Leibman and Donnie Nelson. The Jackals will play their home matches at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas led by their new head coach, Allen Clarke.
“We are excited to have a professional team in Dallas, which we hope will only help to grow the sport of rugby in the DFW-area and the entire country. Many of our players have played with other MLR teams such as the Houston Sabercats, and we hope to develop a good relationship with this new team,”
Jeff Robertson, DRFC President.
With the MLR hosting its first ever collegiate draft on June 13, the Jackals selected Conner Mooneyham from Life University as the first overall pick. With its next pick (Round 1, Pick 13), the Jackals then selected Tommy Clark from American International College. In the second round, the Jackals selected Levi Van Lanen from University of Wisonsin-Whitewater and Bronson Teles from University of Arizona with pick # 13 and 21, respectively.
Congratulations to all those who were selected in the 2020 Major League Rugby Collegiate Draft, and best of luck for those who will be “jackling” for a position with the team in the future! Our players are also excited for the opportunity to tryout and compete for a roster spot with the Dallas Jackals.
